The mystery around the girl’s fall from the Disney Cruise ship has been solved. Authorities have confirmed she accidentally fell in after she was asked to pose next to the railing

A five year old girl who plunged 50 feet from a Disney cruise ship was reportedly asked to pose for a photograph in front of an open porthole, according to authorities.

The youngster lost her balance whilst standing before the porthole as she travelled with her parents on the Disney Dream cruise liner. She fell into the open waters, with her father leaping in after her just 45 seconds later.

Baseless speculation emerged shortly after suggesting the father had lifted her onto the railings for a snap. Florida authorities now maintain the child accidentally tumbled overboard after her mother requested she pose beside the barrier.

A distress signal was sent out and a yellow rescue vessel was deployed three minutes after the girl dropped into the sea.

Remarkably, the youngster escaped without any serious harm. Her father was subsequently treated for an undisclosed condition, reports the Express.

Potential criminal charges were considered against the mother, but the incident on June 29 did not constitute “criminal culpable negligence”. As a result, Florida’s state attorney chose not to pursue prosecution.

State attorney Melissa Kelly declared on September 16: “While the defendant’s conduct is arguably negligent and irresponsible, it does not rise to the egregious level of conduct necessary to establish criminal culpable negligence.”

The Broward County sheriff questioned the parents and they gave matching testimonies that aligned with the security camera recordings. The matter has now been closed.

The mum is said to have told police that she took several more photos of her daughter near the railings during the journey.

As per the police report: “She provided me with a picture of [the girl] laying in a porthole with a window on it.”

It’s claimed the mother commented “she felt like there should be coverings on the windows,” and declared “Disney is responsible for what occurred.”
