Sally Carman has rallied around her Coronation Street co-star after a devastating death

Coronation Street’s Sally Carman has supported her co-star Millie Gibson after they suffered a heartbreaking family loss.

Millie played troublemaker Kelly Neelan on the ITV soap – making her debut in 2019. And it’s fair to say she was involved in some big moments on the cobbles.

From her involvement in a hate crime attack to her fosterage by Imran Habeeb (Charlie de Melo) and Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor), her time in Weatherfield was not short of drama.

However, in 2022, Millie quit the soap, revealing her decision to leave was difficult but she insisted that she had to “trust her instinct”.

Since her exit, she has kept herself busy bagging a role as The Doctor’s sidekick Ruby Sunday, in the BBC and Disney+ show Doctor Who from 2023 to 2025.

However, this week, Millie was hit with heartbreak and announced that her beloved dog had died. Taking to her Instagram, Millie shared a slew of snaps of the adorable four-legged family member.

In the caption she wrote: “15 years with the bestest friend I could ever ask for. Heart is so broken. You are so loved. Rest peacefully my wolf. I love you Spike.”

Millie’s fans and co-stars soon rallied around the soap star with support. In the comments section, Toyah star Georgia Taylor wrote: “Oh darling I’m heartbroken for you. What a beauty he was. Love you.” Sally Carman, who plays Abi Webster, penned: “I’m so sorry lovely.”

Meanwhile, one fan said: “Oh dear Millie, so sorry to hear this. What a beautiful boy he was. Big hug, sending you much love.” Another penned: “Oh darling! So sorry for your loss. What a beautiful fur baby! Sending big hugs!”

In other Millie news, the actress is appearing in an upcoming period drama The Forsytes, where she’s unrecognisable as a ballet dancer with long red hair.

The six-part series, based on John Galsworthy’s novels, boasts a star-studded cast including Home and Away’s Joshua Orpin, One Day’s Eleanor Tomlinson, This Life’s Jack Davenport, and Downton Abbey’s Tuppence Middleton, alongside Francesca Annis, Jamie Flatters, Susan Hampshire and Danny Griffin.

Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX
