EXCLUSIVE A former Manchester United star has admitted, win or lose, Red Devils stars are always under the spotlight

Manchester United are starting to re-find their feet under Ruben Amorim – with the Red Devils marching back up the Premier League table.

The Red Devils are unbeaten in their last five Prem matches, registering three wins and two draws. However a former Old Trafford hero has warned that it might not be enough for their lofty standards.

Dimitar Berbatov, who is LiveScore and LiveScore Bet’s European Brand Ambassador, has admitted you’re always in the spotlight at the Red Devils, and it can be burden for those involved.

Speaking to Daily Star Sport, the Bulgarian said: “It’s there all the time.

“When you play for United – one of the biggest teams in the world, one of the biggest, if not the biggest, brands in the world in this day and age – the pressure is always there.

“Winning or losing, United is under the spotlight constantly. So this is another aspect of the game where people should take it really seriously. Players know, because they are in the moment, they are there.

“And speaking from experience, I know that sometimes putting that pressure on yourself can be a big burden.

“So if you don’t know how to relieve it, if you don’t have good people around you – teammates, coach, manager, a sports therapist if the team has one – you need to speak.

“You need to speak sometimes because it’s going to make you feel good, you’re going to take the burden off your shoulders, and then you’re going to perform better.

“But that stress that comes with the expectation is always there.

“And we can see it with some of the players that have been to United and didn’t produce what everybody expected – that’s from the pressure that everybody is putting on them.”

United are back in action on Monday evening, in a clash with Everton, and a win, if results go their way, could see them move up to 2nd.

We were speaking to Berbatov at LiveScore Bet’s ‘Play With Control’ responsible gambling campaign shoot. Known for his flawless first touch and calmness under pressure, Berbatov’s control didn’t come by chance. It was the result of mental discipline, careful preparation and a deep understanding of his own abilities.

As part of LiveScore Bet’s ‘Play With Control’ campaign, set to launch during the UK & Ireland’s Safer Gambling Week (17-23 Nov), Berbatov emphasises the importance of understanding your odds, using the tools available to stay in control and betting with discipline. 18+.
