Donald Trump hosted a lunch at the newly-renovated White House Rose Garden, which he controversially paved over to build a patio for such events over the summer, receiving fierce bipartisan backlash.

US President Donald Trump delivered a characteristic meandering 45-minute address at a Rose Garden Club luncheon on Tuesday.

The president hosted the gathering at the freshly refurbished White House Rose Garden, which he controversially transformed over the summer by laying paving to create a patio for such occasions, sparking fierce criticism from both sides of the political divide. The project is estimated to have cost $1.9 million.

This follows his contentious alterations to the presidential portraits displayed in the Oval Office and the launch of a new $250 million ballroom construction scheme for the East Wing of the White House. Private donations will fund the project.

The property tycoon boasted about his building ventures at the beginning of his remarks before launching into a tirade about contemporary issues.

During his address, he made several peculiar and inflated statements that were particularly striking, reports the Mirror US.

Trump boasted about ‘beautiful Black women’ in Chicago wearing MAGA merchandise to avoid getting ‘mugged and shot’.

Trump made crude comments about Black women whilst celebrating his and the Republican Party’s achievements in appealing to Black and brown communities, highlighting that they traditionally support Democrats.

“It’s now harder for a Democrat because if you’ve seen what we’ve done with the Hispanics, the Black workers and Black men, and recently a poll came out with Black men and women, we’re doing so well.”

It remains unclear which poll he was referencing, although a recent AtlasIntel survey found that 54% of Black voters approve of Trump. The president reckons the GOP has managed to capture crucial ethnic minority voter groups through its tough anti-crime positioning.

“They want security, they don’t want to have their city destroyed,” Trump declared at the Rose Club Garden gathering.

“Women in Chicago, beautiful Black women, walking around with red MAGA hats because they don’t want to be mugged and shot and everything else,” he went on. “Then you see a Democrat get up and tell you how safe it is, Chicago.”

Trump tried to clarify the copper wire problems plaguing air traffic control systems following numerous power failures.

Trump moaned about the ongoing issues confronting air traffic controllers, which he pinned on the previous Biden administration.

“There’s Pete Buttigieg [Biden’s Secretary of Transportation], he spent billions of dollars on fixing the air traffic control,” Trump stated.

In his attempt to break down how air traffic control systems operate, he explained, “They used copper wire going into glass wire. Any union electrician here or any non-union electrician would say you can’t hook copper into glass. It doesn’t work. They spent billions of dollars, they turned on the system, and it was stone cold blank.”

Multiple air traffic control system failures throughout this year have been triggered by faulty copper wiring dating back to the 1970s. Air traffic controllers were left shaken by the ordeal, which caused widespread travel disruption.

Trump has announced that the Federal Aviation Administration is making strides to speed up the installation of new fibre optic lines at airports to tackle the issue.

Trump labelled NYC Democratic mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani a ‘communist’.

The president branded New York’s Democratic mayoral hopeful, Zohran Mamdani, as a “communist.”

Mamdani is affiliated with the Democratic Party and the Democratic Socialists of America, an organisation championing workers’ rights and advocating for wealth equality.

“We must triumph in the midterms or else everything will be snatched away by the Radical Left lunatics,” Trump cautioned. “I mean, we’re on the brink of having a communist mayor in New York. Can you believe it? A communist.”

“I used to always assert that we would never elect a socialist in our country. Remember? I’d repeat that constantly. And I was correct. We bypassed socialist, we elected a communist. So I didn’t fib, I was right.

“We have a communist, not a socialist.”

Trump alleged GOP has a 92% chance of losing control of Congress in the 2026 Midterm ElectionAddressing lawmakers, Trump voiced his exasperation that the midterms might not swing his way despite all his claimed victories.

“The people understand. We’re giving you the biggest tax cuts in history. All of these things, it all adds up. We should do fantastically well in the midterms,” he started off.

“The only thing wrong with the midterms is that, statistically, when you look, a president gets elected and for some reason and nobody, not even the great [Senate Majority Leader] John Thune, can explain to me.” Trump warned.

“For some reason, even if it’s a reasonably good president- and we’ve had success like nobody-but for some reason you lose the midterm.

“I don’t know why,” he went on. “The odds are tremendously against us, like 92% or something. It doesn’t make sense.

“If you have a great presidency, it only makes sense that you win the midterms. So, there should be no reason for it,” he added. “There might be some dark, deep illogical reason where they want to vote the opposite way.”

It’s a well-known fact that incumbents often face an uphill battle during election cycles, a pattern echoed in recent elections across the globe.

However, The Mirror US was unable to locate any public studies to substantiate this bold claim at the time of going to press.

Trump amusingly referred to White House Director of the Office of Management and Budget Russ Vought as ‘Darth Vader’Trump spent a significant chunk of his speech venting about the federal government shutdown that kicked off at the start of the month.

At one point, he drew a peculiar parallel between White House Director of the Office of Management and Budget, Russ Vought, a Project 2025 architect who has been slicing through and freezing federal funding and posts, and the antagonist from the sci-fi saga, Star Wars.

“We have Darth Vader. You know Darth Vader, right?” he said.

“Darth Vader is a man who is sitting — is that Darth?

“Stand up please Darth.

“Does everybody know — they call him Darth Vader, I call him a fine man,” Trump said.

“But he’s cutting Democrat priorities and they’re never gonna get them back.”
