James Martin, known for shows like United Cakes of America and James Martin’s Saturday Morning, has shared insights into his health and noted how he’s “not on that bloody diet injection thing”
James Martin has revealed that he’s been “kicked down” as he provided a health update following his cancer diagnosis seven years ago. James, a celebrity chef recognised for programmes such as United Cakes of America and James Martin’s Saturday Morning, spoke candidly about his health in a recent interview, during which he mentioned how he’s “not on that bloody diet injection thing”.
In a crushing setback in 2018, James received a facial skin cancer diagnosis and underwent a number of operations. Earlier this year, he explained how the cancer had returned “on several occasions”, requiring further treatment.
But in a more uplifting development, James has now shared that he’s feeling “tops”. During his guest appearance on Good Housekeeping UK’s My Life In A Biscuit Tin podcast, he even disclosed that he feels “great”.
James remarked: “Nothing gets given to you in this life. You’ve got to work for everything, and life’s all about risk and reward.
“Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t; if you gotta build yourself back up, get back on the horse and crack on. And I’ve been kicked down as long…as many times as I’ve been brought up.”
It was during this moment that the beloved TV chef addressed the topic of cancer. When James was questioned about whether he was now “well”, he confirmed this by responding “tops”.
He continued: “I don’t take injections. I’m not on that bloody diet injection thing, and I’m like…no, I just feel great in myself.”
Hello! reported that the ‘Sweet Baby James’ star endured “debilitating pain” during his cancer fight. Reflecting on this challenging period, he described it as “one of the most fraught and difficult periods” of his life.
In a heartening update to Candis magazine in March, James shared: “This is the first time in six years that I feel as fit as a fiddle.”
In other news from earlier this year, James shared heartfelt comments about a family member who sadly passed away. Speaking on the Road To Success with Benedict Fowler podcast, James discussed his late grandmother.
He expressed: “It sounds daft talking about your granny, but if I could be 10% of what my granny is, I’d be 110% a better person (than I am now).”
James drew parallels between his grandmother and the late Queen Elizabeth II, acknowledging that it “sounds daft”.
He continued: “My granny, it sounds daft, but my granny was the same (as Queen Elizabeth), because she’d walk into a room and I don’t know if it was how I was brought up, but you were told respect and you shut up and listen. And I valued that so much.”
You can next catch the chef on James Martin’s Saturday Morning today (Saturday, November 22), from 9.30am to 11.40am.
