EXCLUSIVE: Jano the jealous parrot didn’t take kindly to her owner’s new girlfriend, so she flew off before getting stuck in a 50ft tree where she let her thoughts be known about the love triangle
A jealous parrot took to the skies when she found out her owner had got himself a new bird. Tiktok user, Salford Sheriff said Jano didn’t take kindly to the news of his new partner, Amy when she she made her great escape.
Within minutes, he got a call to say his two-year-old feathered friend been found up a 50ft tree by Deborah Mulvaney, the mayor of Towyn and Kinmel Bay, North Wales.
But when the Sheriff turned up, a four-hour stand-off ensued which involved calling out a tree surgeon while repeatedly being told to f*** off by his beloved pet.
Speaking exclusively to the Daily Star, the Sheriff said: “I’ve got a new girlfriend and Jano isn’t very happy about it as she’s feeling pushed out. The other day, she flew off into a 50ft tree.
“I was trying to lure her down with snacks, telling her: ‘Come down now,’ and she just kept on saying: ‘F*** off. ‘She was there for four hours, I had to get a tree surgeon out.
“But as soon as he started climbing the tree, she flew down and came straight to me.”
The 51-year-old who lives in Towyn says the whole ordeal came as a huge coincidence as he’d recently done a charity event to raise money for the local church with the mayor, which involved people having their pictures taken with Jano.
“I don’t know how and I don’t know why Jano ended up at the mayor’s house, it’s mad,” he said.
“But as soon as word spread about Jano’s escape bid, I had hundreds of messages from people offering to help, including the tree surgeon from Cut Above.
“I was so overwhelmed by the way the community rallied around, it was amazing.”
Mayor, Deborah described how her quiet afternoon turned into a dramatic rescue mission.
She said: “I heard a horrendous noise outside so I went to go and look and there were lots of seagulls flying around, then I heard this unusual squalking.
“That’s when I saw the parrot up a tree and straight away, I knew who it belonged to because she’s such a big character in Towyn, everybody loves her.
“The seagulls were trying to attack her, so I knew I had to act fast so I put a post on the Towyn Talk Facebook group to try and get word to the owner, who came out straight away.
“My husband got the ladders out of the garage and we all tried to lure the parrot down.
“I couldn’t believe my ears when I heard what the parrot was saying, but I couldn’t help but laugh because of the situation.”
She added: “It was marvellous when the parrot eventually flew down to her owner.
“It was so lovely to reunite them thanks to the help of social media. It was quite the dramatic evening, at one point, I thought we’d be there all night but thankfully it all ended well.
“I spoke to her owner the next morning to make sure she was ok after her ordeal. They go everywhere together and always stop for pictures, they both do so much for the local community.”
It’s not the first time that Jano and the Sheriff have made the headlines.
Last year, he admitted he “s**” himself when he woke from a nap to find his touring caravan about to burst into flames.
His unlikely saviour was Jano whose frantic screeches raised the alarm.
And it wasn’t a moment too soon as the mobile home “could’ve been obliterated within minutes.”
The Sheriff regularly posts videos of their escapades on TikTok which have racked up thousands of views. The duo can regularly be found at Knightley’s in Towyn where people can meet Jano and take pictures.
Jano is also now on TikTok.
