Jimmy Kimmel has been back to his old ways of mocking Donald Trump since returning to television after his show was suspended following his controversial comments about Charlie Kirk’s assassination
Despite his late-night talk show, Jimmy Kimmel Live! being temporarily suspended following his contentious remarks about the assassination of President Donald Trump’s associate Charlie Kirk, Jimmy Kimmel continues to poke fun at POTUS.
On Tuesday night’s episode of the ABC show, the TV host ribbed Trump’s love life and exercise habits. America’s Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth, stated that “no fatties” were permitted in the military during a recent unprecedented meeting with all the generals and admirals.
Taking a jab at Pete’s comment and highlighting the apparent hypocrisy, Jimmy made light of Trump giving advice on fitness.
Jimmy jested that Trump was “so fat” that he’s “breaking escalators,” after an escalator seemed to halt when he was on it. Prior to this, he took a swipe at Trump’s remark about the attractive ships this week, questioning if Trump was “planning to have sex with the ships?”, reports the Irish Star.
“Donald Trump said ‘our new military will be bringing back a focus on fitness,’ I love the fact Trump is lecturing [the military] on fitness,” Jimmy commented after playing a clip of Pete’s Tuesday speech.
“I mean if that isn’t the fondue pot calling the kettle fat, I don’t know what is,” he continued during his opening segment. “Listen up generals the Pillsbury dough president wants you to do Pilates.”
Jimmy further highlighted Trump’s portliness, joking that the “only push-ups Trump did was on the side of an ice cream truck.” Jimmy has returned to his usual antics, which involves mocking Trump, since coming back to television following the suspension drama.
Earlier this month, Jimmy faced serious repercussions after he appeared to make an insensitive comment about Charlie’s assassination during his opening monologue on Jimmy Kimmel Live!
On the programme, he said that the “Maga gang” was “desperately trying to characterize this kid [Tyler Robinson] who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them” and of trying to “score political points from it.”
Shortly after he aired his views, ABC announced that his show would be pulled from the television network’s schedule indefinitely.
Moreover, at the time, Nexstar, which operates 28 ABC affiliate stations across America, said it would drop the late-night programme for the “immediate future,” as well.
Andrew Alford, who serves as president of Nexstar’s broadcasting division, said in a press release: “Mr. Kimmel’s comments about the death of Mr. Kirk are offensive and insensitive at a critical time in our national political discourse, and we do not believe they reflect the spectrum of opinions, views, or values of the local communities in which we are located.Continuing to give Mr. Kimmel a broadcast platform in the communities we serve is simply not in the public interest at the current time, and we have made the difficult decision to preempt. His show in an effort to let cooler heads prevail as we move toward the resumption of respectful, constructive dialogue,” Alford continued.
Jimmy Kimmel’s show made a comeback last Tuesday following a significant public uproar, sparking boycotts against ABC and Disney.
