Katie Price has taken a swipe at her ex Gareth Gates as she shared her true feelings on the Pop Idol star during a live show in his hometown of Bradford

Katie Price has laid bare her genuine thoughts about Gareth Gates after delivering a brutal blow to the singer whilst performing live on stage in his very own hometown of Bradford.

The 47-year-old glamour model was visiting the city alongside her closest mate Kerry Katona as part of their nationwide ‘An Evening with’ tour when she unleashed her feelings.

She certainly didn’t mince her words when a member of the audience quizzed her about her Pop Idol former flame. Gareth, who’s now 41, was merely 17 years old when he enjoyed a brief romance with Katie during the early 2000s.

At that point, she was six months expecting her eldest child Harvey, who’s now 23, and Gareth was notably inexperienced in matters of love, reports the Mirror.

He originally rejected claims about their liaison due to concerns it might damage his budding career – but when he eventually came clean during a 2014 stint on The Big Reunion, he revealed: “I denied the whole Jordan thing because I was 17, I didn’t want my family to find out about my sex life. If I hadn’t of lied it wouldn’t have been a big deal, my family, friends and fans wouldn’t have felt as let down I guess.”

The singer continued: “For me, I was very young. I had to say I don’t want to have a long-term relationship at this age, so she sold the story and I said it was all lies. The only thing I thought in my head to do was to say it never happened. I didn’t tell anyone, my friends or family, so they all backed me.”

Two decades on and Katie clearly hasn’t moved past the very public snub.

According to local publication Telegraph and Argus, Katie declared: “F*** Gareth Gates,” when audience members brought up their past romance during her Bradford performance. During a 2009 episode of Piers Morgan’s Life Stories, Katie reflected: “When I look at it now, it’s gross, disgusting. It’s terrible – I was still young, I was pregnant, I didn’t have the dad about and I still wanted to be loved. It was wrong when I look back.”

Now a mum-of-five, Katie went on to have four more children – son Junior, 20, and daughter Princess, 18, whom she shares with Peter Andre, 52, and Jett, 12, and 11 year old Bunny, from her relationship with ex-husband Kieran Hayler, 38.

But in another swipe at Gareth, she has also claimed responsibility for kickstarting his pop career, targeting the Say It Isn’t So singer in her 2021 book Harvey and Me.

Reflecting on some of the photoshoots she participated in during that period, the 45 year old wrote: “I should have thought, ‘Katie, put it away. You’re pregnant – no one wants you’.

“But then again, hello Gareth Gates! He wanted a bit of Pricey – even when I was six months pregnant.

“He denied losing his virginity to me at first but once he finally admitted it, wasn’t that when his career started? Anyway, swiftly moving on..”

In her book, Being Jordan, Katie disclosed their encounters mainly occurred on a sofa at a mate’s house in a bid to keep their shenanigans away from public attention.

She also alleged they checked into a hotel together for the Brit Awards in London, where she claimed a vigorous romp resulted in a painful intimate injury. “Poor Gareth took it all very badly. I laid him down on the bed and cuddled him – our dreams of a passionate night of sex were well and truly shattered,” she wrote.

Both parties refuted claims of a romantic connection, and Katie was subsequently shocked when the performer ended things via text message, leaving her feeling “gutted”.

She continued: “I really didn’t need any more rejections in my life. I was with him at an important time in his life, and then suddenly he dumped me. He always said that once he got his record deal then we might be able to be open about our relationship… But when the deal came through, our relationship was over.”
