Woodrow Wilson Senior High in Los Angeles’ El Sereno area has been shutdown following a shooting near the school, with the two suspects remaining at large as police spot one sprint away

Shots have been fired close to a Los Angeles school on Thursday afternoon, causing the school to go into lockdown for safety reasons.

According to authorities, the gun shots were fired in the area of Woodrow Wilson Senior High in Los Angeles’ El Sereno and local police have reported that they are on the hunt for two suspects as they remain at large after fleeing the scene.

The Los Angeles Police Department arrived at Woodrow Wilson high school on Multnomah Street shortly after 3:30pm on Thursday after receiving reports of a shooting that took place in the carpark, reports The Mirror..

The force said that after two suspects opened fire in the parking lot area, one of them got into a truck—possibly a green truck—and fled.

The second suspect was spotted sprinting on Soto Street.

It has been declared that no victims were discovered.

A spokesperson for the high school said: “The safety and wellbeing of our students and staff remain my top priority.

“I am calling to advise you that our campus is on lockdown because of law-enforcement activity in the area.

“The law enforcement activity is not related to immigration enforcement.

“We are following district protocols.

“Our school will also provide resources for students who may need additional mental health support because of this incident.”

A Facebook user reported that the school was under lockdown due to a gunshot. “My husband works there,” the worried individual continued.

Another person said that a child was shot and that it was gang-related, however the incident happened outside the school, not inside, at the dash stop. Local media sources, however, made it plain that no victims had been discovered when the Los Angeles Fire Department cleared the area.
