Laura Woods collapsed on live TV while covering the England Lionesses friendly against Ghana on ITV on Monday night and was caught by Ian Wright and Anita Asante – she has since shared a health update

Laura Woods has posted a reassuring message to supporters emphasising she is fine after collapsing on live television.

The well-known presenter, 38, was hosting coverage of the England Lionesses friendly against Ghana when she appeared to fall live on air. She was supported by pundits Ian Wright and Anita Asante before ITV quickly switched to advertisements.

Katie Shanahan stepped in for Woods and confirmed she was “doing okay” at half-time of the match, which England won 2-0, whilst Woods’ fiancé, Adam Collard, also shared on X reassuring supporters that she was doing well.

And she has since used social media to emphasise that she was fine and to say sorry for causing everyone concern.

In an update posted via her Instagram story, Woods wrote: “Gosh that was a bit weird. Sorry to worry everyone, im ok, the wonderful paramedic at Saints have said its probably a virus, just need a bit of rest and rehydration.

“I’m really embarrassed that happened on tv, but a big thank you to my colleagues at ITV who have really looked after me tonight. And to Wrighty and Neets for catching me. And sorry again x”.

The cameras quickly cut away but audio briefly continued, capturing Wright checking on Woods before the programme switched to an extended ad break.

When the coverage returned, she had been replaced by Katie Shanahan, who announced that Woods had been “taken ill but she’s in very good hands”. Her partner Collard has now released a statement confirming the 38-year-old is okay.

He wrote to concerned fans on his X account: “Laura is all ok and with the right people. Thank you for all of your kind messages.”

The incident occurred when the camera was on Wright, who was one of ITV 4’s two pundits along with Asante.

While Wright was speaking, he seemed to notice Woods falling, before a wider shot of the three briefly showed Wright and Asante propping Woods up, before Woods fell to the turf.

Popular presenter Woods is regularly seen on ITV and TNT Sports, where she fronts their coverage of the men’s Champions League. She gave birth to a baby boy, Leo Ernie Collard, in January 2025 with her fiance Adam Collard.

Stunned viewers wished her well on social media after the incident. One wrote: “Upsetting to see Laura Woods faint. Glad Ian Wright caught her. Speedy recovery.” Another said: “Hope Laura Woods is alright. Get well soon.”

A third fan added: “Hope Laura Woods is okay. Quite a shock to see her collapse like that.”
