Liverpool are already very busy on transfer deadline day with a host of deals potentially in the offing for Arne Slot’s side as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of the Premier League season
Liverpool have splashed the cash this summer – and they’re not done there with Alexander Isak just one mega deal that could be officially completed today.
The Premier League champions have welcomed a whole host of new faces to Anfield across what has been an expensive window. German midfielder Florian Wirtz and striker Hugo Ekitike are among their most lucrative signings. Defenders Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong and Giovanni Leoni have also completed moves to the Merseyside giants.
Goalkeepers Giorgi Mamardashvilli, Armin Pecsi and Freddie Woodman have all also become Liverpool players. And while Liverpool look well set to potentially defend their title, more business is on the cards for the Reds on deadline day, after they agreed a £125m deal with Newcastle for their wantaway striker Isak, who was desperate to join England’s most successful football club.
Meanwhile, Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi remains as a target. Some outgoings could potentially be completed over the final few hours of the window. Take a look at a host of deals that could be signed off on deadline day at Anfield:, reports the Mirror.
Ins
Alexander Isak
Starting with the most obvious, Isak has been a prime target for Liverpool all summer long. The Reds had one £110m bid turned down for the Swedish forward, before returning with a £125m offer last night that got the deal one.
The Geordies’ goal machine is now heading to Merseyside for a medical as the 25-year-old is expected to complete a British transfer record smashing move to the Premier League leaders. You can read all the details in our report here.
Marc Guehi
At the other end of the pitch, the Reds are also eager to bolster their defensive ranks. Following Jarell Quansah’s transfer to Bayer Leverkusen, Marc Guehi has emerged as a possible replacement.
Liverpool have already put forward a couple of offers for the Crystal Palace skipper. The Eagles would be open to a sale – particularly with less than a year left on Guehi’s contract – so it now falls to Liverpool to meet their asking price.
If they manage to do that, there’s a real chance that he could make an appearance at Anfield on the final day.
Outs
Federico Chiesa
For much of the summer transfer window, it seemed as though Chiesa was set for a return to Italy. He was heavily linked with a transfer to AC Milan earlier this summer.
However, he now seems determined to stay at Anfield and compete for his spot, although if a substantial offer comes in for him – and Isak joins – then it’s hard to imagine Liverpool rejecting it.
Konstantinos Tsimikas
One player who seems to be on the brink of a departure is Greek defender Tsimikas. His standing in the team has taken a hit this summer with the arrival of Kerkez, and with Andrew Robertson still at Anfield.
Roma, the Italian club, have shown interest in acquiring his services, with Tsimikas having jetted off to Rome for a medical with his potential new employers. The defender is set to join the Serie A side on loan initially.
Calvin Ramsay
On the topic of full backs potentially leaving on loan, Scottish right-back Ramsay could also be on his way out. He’s currently playing second fiddle to Frimpong and Conor Bradley, so a loan move might be the best course of action.
Ramsay, 22, spent the previous season with Wigan Athletic and then Kilmarnock, so another loan spell could be on the cards, although no interested clubs have been named yet.
Harvey Elliott
Midfielder Elliott has struggled to cement his place in Liverpool’s first team and has been linked with a move away. Tottenham, their Premier League rivals, were rumoured to be interested, but they seem to have cooled their interest after snapping up Xavi Simons.
Interestingly, RB Leipzig, Simons’ former club, are now reportedly interested in Elliott, but Liverpool’s asking price could prove to be a hurdle in any potential deal.
Jayden Danns
Danns has made nine appearances for Liverpool across all competitions so far, having made his first-team debut under Jurgen Klopp. However, what he needs now is regular first-team football.
He seemed to be on track for that last season after moving to Sunderland on loan for the second half of the campaign. However, injuries prevented him from making an appearance, so another loan move could certainly be beneficial.
Rhys Williams
Williams, who hasn’t played for Liverpool since the 2020/21 season, appears to have a limited future at Anfield. He has since been loaned out five times, most recently to League Two side Morecambe.
One would assume that if Liverpool receive either a loan or permanent offer for his services on deadline day, they’d be likely to accept.
Kaide Gordon
Another young player who could benefit from some first-team football this season is forward Gordon. The 20 year old spent the latter half of last season with Championship side Portsmouth, so another EFL loan could be very beneficial for him.
