The 18-year-old – who was recently crowned World Number One – was at the Sidac Social Club in St Helens, Merseyside as he prepares for the World Darts Championships
Teen darts sensation Luke Littler has swapped serving up 180s on the board for juicy burgers – just for a short while, of course.
The 18-year-old was spotted handing out the new Double Big Tasty McDonald’s burger at his send-off event at Sidac Social Club in St Helens ahead of the upcoming World Darts Championships in January. It was at this club that The Nuke began his career not so long ago.
This event coincided with the launch of the burger, which he dished out to friends, family and former club members of the dart player as they celebrated his journey from local academy player to World Champion and World Number One.
Despite the happy times in Merseyside, though, elsewhere some McDonald’s customers were left fuming by its limited edition burger, which has been reintroduced as part of its Christmas menu.
Social media users complained on X about size of the Big Tasty burger that, according to the fast-food chain, features 100% British and Irish quarter-pounder beef patties, white cheddar cheese and shredded lettuce.
A Big Tasty Meal costs £7.99 while a singular burger is £4.39 and customers also have the option of a Double Big Tasty Meal for £9.49, with additional bacon costing 90p.
One user seethed: “Wtf have @McDonaldsUK done to the BIG tasty? It’s even smaller than a Big Mac. It used to be a genuinely big burger, which periodically features on the menu, ppl know what they are getting when they order it! McDonalds is attempting to gaslight us, this is NOT a Big Tasty!”
Another added: “@McDonalds you absolute conman! The big tasty? More like the medium tasty! No bigger than a quarter pounder. If I wanted quarter pounder I’d of ordered one and not one disguised as a Big, sorry, I mean medium tasty! Big tasty’s the only burger worth having at your place, not now!”
Littler has shot up the world rankings since he first took his steps in the pro tour and it has taken him less than two years since his first appearance at the World Championship to make it to the top.
Littler beat Danny Noppert in a Grand Slam semi-final clash earlier this month that oozed quality from both players as the Dutchman broke the teen earlier on in the game.
Sky Sports’ Mark Webster said: “He was made to work. You tip your hat to Danny Noppert, but he just wilted. Luke Littler found a way like he generally does.
He added: “Littler is now provisionally the World No.1 but he’ll want to go and put the icing on the cake by winning the Grand Slam.”
The Nuke then went on to win the final against Luke Humphries, admitting after his victory: “It was a tough job getting up this morning and playing in the afternoon. No-one likes it but they’re the games you’ve got to get through.
“Once I got over the line and knew I was Number One I focused on the final. Luke played absolutely amazing. I said to him it was a weird, weird game but I’m glad to win. Back to back!”
