Married at First Sight UK star Davide Anica has shared his side of the story when it comes to his split from Keye Luke
Married at First Sight UK groom Davide Anica has disclosed he rang ex Keye Luke a staggering 136 times on the evening he chose to end their relationship.
The pair were matched on this year’s E4 social experiment and swiftly became viewers’ darlings. They survived the entire series and appeared utterly smitten when they exchanged heartfelt final vows.
Yet they subsequently parted ways after returning to reality, when Davide discovered Keye using the dating platform Grindr.
Keye has previously addressed their separation, claiming he was seeking recreational substances on the ‘hookup app’ whilst Davide was working in America.
Now, flight attendant Davide has offered his account of what transpired, reports OK!.
On the Spill With Will podcast, the 34-year-old revealed: “It was very difficult coming out of the experiment. I think the pressure of the outside world was a lot, not just for me but for Keye.”
Davide continued by admitting he found it challenging to keep up with his partner’s enthusiasm beyond the programme.
“I was struggling a lot with travelling back-and-forth and like coming and being with him. Like I mentioned prior, his energy is a lot.”
Despite enduring a turbulent patch just one month post-experiment, everything appeared harmonious between the couple when Davide jetted off to Seattle for work.
The Portuguese groom maintains he messaged Keye upon arrival, which had become their usual routine.
When no response came, Davide attempted to phone his partner, but Keye continuously declined the calls.
In a recent podcast, Keye insisted he was fast asleep during these calls because it was roughly 2am in the UK.
However, Davide has hit back at this explanation, maintaining that Keye was deliberately declining the phone, and was even online on Instagram.
After verifying his whereabouts and discovering that Keye was at home, Davide started to panic.
“I tried to call again, nothing. And again, nothing. 136 times I called this man, that night. I’m panicking, I’m like ‘Is he okay? Is everything alright?'” he revealed.
This prompted him to get Grindr and set up a blank profile, which he positioned to Keye’s area.
Davide’s fears were validated when he spotted a profile without a face showing Keye’s age, interests and a gym photo that Keye had shared with him that morning.
Although he couldn’t view his then-partner’s face, Davide says he could instantly identify his physique and the identical tattoo they both had.
Getting tearful, the cabin crew member said: “I slept for three hours […] when I got up, I sent the screenshots of everything. Literally, I sent the screenshots of everything and said ‘I’m ending this relationship.'”
The TV personality struggled to hold back tears as he continued: “You don’t do that to someone when I was the most vulnerable. I gave everything to this man, he could have had everything with me. And you just don’t do that. You just don’t.”
Whilst Keye has expressed he’d be willing to restart things with his former partner, it’s evident Davide doesn’t share those feelings.
He branded his former partner’s conduct as “unacceptable” during the podcast chat, and admitted he would remain perpetually “paranoid” should the couple reunite.
