Actress Millie Bobby Brown wasn’t taking any prisoners on the red carpet at the Stranger Things Season 5 premiere in London, clapping back at a snapper who wanted her to smile
Millie Bobby Brown gave a photographer a piece of her mind at the Stranger Things premiere in London.
The 21-year-old actress who plays Eleven in Stranger Things has been promoting the fifth and final season of the Netflix hit. But things took an awkward turn on the red carpet at the Stranger Things 5 premiere in London this week.
Millie decided to stand up to a photographer who had yelled at her to smile for the cameras. The actress lost her temper and pointed in their direction, snapping back: “Smile? You smile!” before walking off of the carpet.
The star, who looked incredible in a black corset at the event, has divided opinion with fans online. Some believe Brown was fully justified in her response to the photographer, while others criticised her for it.
One wrote on X: “So valid. nothing puts you in a more rotten mood when someone tells you to smile.” Another said: “I mean the way they were telling her to smile. Definitely warranted.”
A third penned: “What the hell is this obsession with telling female celebs to smile?”. But another social media disagreed, asking: “Why can’t just smile? They’re only asking Millie to smile so she’ll look good on camera.”
Millie recently became a mum with husband Jake Bongiovi, 23, the son of rocker Jon Bon Jovi. They announced in August that they had adopted a “sweet baby girl”.
A joint statement from the pair read: “This summer, we welcomed our sweet baby girl through adoption. We are beyond excited to embark on this beautiful next chapter of parenthood in both peace and privacy. And then there were 3.”
Although a shock for some, Millie had already spoken about wanting to become a parent back in March. She teased that she wanted a “big family” with Jake and had mentioned the prospect of them adopting.
She said on the SmartLess podcast: “Jake knows how important it is to me [to have a child].” She continued: “Of course, I want to focus on really establishing myself as an actor and as a producer, but I also find it’s so important to start a family, for me, personally.” She said “it’s a huge thing” to her.
Millie added: “Jake was like ‘We cannot do that until we get married.’ So that was his thing and my thing was I really want a family. I really want a big family.
“Like, I’m one of four. He’s one of four. So it is definitely in our future. […] But, for me, like I don’t see having your own child as really any different as adopting.”
