Eoin O’Faodhagain has made a habit of seeing Nessie on the webcams in recent years, except the latest sighting of the iconic and mythical beast has left him ‘puzzled’
A mystery monster as big as three grown men has seemingly emerged from the deep in “strange and fascinating” footage of the latest reported Nessie sighting.
Eoin O’Faodhagain said he was “puzzled” to spot something roughly 17ft long in Loch Ness while watching the water via webcam. He said: “I saw a large creature, brown-black in colour, just breaking the surface, creating a strange circular movement.
“I was puzzled, wondering what this spectacle was that was unfolding in front of my eyes on the surface of the loch. I had never seen movement like this before – it was very strange and fascinating.”
In Eoin’s footage, an enigmatic shape can be seen lurking in the loch a short distance from the shore. Mr O’Faodhagain, a veteran Nessie hunter, estimates it was 17 feet long, and five feet wide.
“There are no known creatures in the loch that are that size,” he said. “I think it could be one of the Nessie family.”
The video was captured on September 23, using a webcam at the Clansman Hotel maintained by Visit Inverness Loch Ness.
Eoin, 61, says it reminded him of a Nessie sighting reported in 1992. “It was featured in a documentary called The Secrets of Loch Ness,” he said.
“The footage showed an object in the water that was moving in a circular manner also. On this program it was suggested that two visible wakes could have collided to form this swirl in the water.
“But in my footage, the water surface is calm, unlike the video footage of 1992, when it was visibly rough. There are no visible wakes in the water, or boat activity prior to sighting, to cause any swirl.”
He continued: “What makes this sighting unique is that there is no other footage like it ever recorded. The researchers of Loch Ness might have a difficult task explaining this footage to the wider world.”
Mr O’Faodhagain often logs on to watch the water from his home in County Donegal, Ireland. Over the years, he’s racked up multiple entries in the Official Loch Ness Monster Sightings Register.
This sighting is the first in a month, after it was spotted at the end of August. According to the Official Loch Ness Monster Sightings Register, it was seen on the final Friday of the month.
It said: “A long time local resident shot a two minute video of something just under the water near Lochend. It was at 9.15am in calm clear conditions.
“They said they had lived by the loch for 30 years and had never seen anything like this before. It caused an unusual disturbance pattern on the surface of the water.”
