Tottenham Hotspurs Football Newsletter

Spurs on Sunday became the first team to win at Everton’s new Hill Dickinson Stadium, as Micky van de Ven scored twice before Pape Sarr rounded off a 3-0 win.

Newcastle, though, will pose a much tougher test despite a consistently inconsistent start to the season, which has garnered three wins, three draws and three defeats in nine league games.

But it was this competition that provided Newcastle and their fans their biggest moment in 70 years, when they beat Liverpool in last season’s Carabao Cup final to lift English football’s second-tier cup competition.

Date, kick-off time and venue

Newcastle vs Tottenham is scheduled for an 8.15pm GMT kick-off on Wednesday, October 29, 2025.

The match will take place at St James’ Park.

Newcastle vs Tottenham team news

Sandro Tonali shook off a knock at the weekend to see out Newcastle’s narrow win over Fulham, so should start on Wednesday in a midfield three of Joelinton and Bruno Guimaraes. Further back, there could be a change in centre-back pairing, with Fabian Schar pushing to start ahead of Sven Botman, who suffered a knock of his own on Saturday.

Anthony Elanga has really struggled since his £55million summer move, so could be afforded a chance from the off, while Harvey Barnes is also due a start. Nick Woltemade should keep his place up front.

Tottenham are likely to again be without nine first-team players, with Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie the pair closest to returns but still sidelined. A busy treatment room somewhat restricts Thomas Frank’s options, but Pape Sarr and Lucas Bergvall could come in to give two of Rodrigo Bentancur, Joao Palhinha and Xavi Simons a rest.
