Angelynn Mock, 47, had been a staple on a local television news but has now been arrested by police on suspicion of killing her own elderly mother

A newsreader has been charged with murdering her own mother. Police unearthed the horrific crime scene where the woman was shockingly stabbed to death.

Angenlynn Mock, 47, had been a newsreader for local TV news station FOX 2 in St. Louis, Missouri. She first landed the job back in 2011, and had cemented herself as one of the most familiar faces on the network for years.

But on Friday (October 31), Mock was brought into custody in Wichita, in the neighbouring state of Kansas on suspicion that she caused the death of her mum Anita Avers. Police officers are now conducting an investigation into the 80-year-old woman’s suspicious death.

According to the Daily Mail, officers with the Wichita Police Department were alerted to an incident taking place at around 8am, only to find Mock standing outside the house. When police went inside, they found Anita suffering from multiple stab wounds and while she was taken to hospital she was later pronounced dead.

Mock herself was also taken to the hospital to be treated, but the force gave no reason as to why. After she was checked over, she was then formally arrested and charged with first-degree murder.

Former Fox anchor Angelynn had worked for Fox for just under four years, according to her LinkedIn page. During that time, she worked as a reporter and as an anchorwoman, becoming a familiar face to the residents of St. Louis.

Speaking to local media, eyewitnesses said that in the wake of the incident Mock had been covered in blood and was calmly speaking to neighbours. One neighbour Alyssa Castro said that she and her boyfriend had been approached by the journalist whilst covered in blood.

“There was a woman who approached our vehicle with like blood, like her hands were filled, her body was filled with blood, asking to call 911,” she explained. Alyssa said her partner gave Angelynn his phone to call the police, before she ran into the house with it.

Eventually the phone was returned back to Alyssa’s partner, but not before the couple were left dumbstruck at what they had seen. Castro added that she tried to help Mock with anything that she needed to once the police were notified, but the presenter seemed skittish.

“I asked her if she was okay, and she was pretty shook up and she seemed scared, and she just ran off,” she added. Angelynn was discovered by police and apprehended shortly afterwards.

Following her death, tributes have poured in for Anita, who was still working as a marriage and family therapist in the Wichita area. No further information regarding the investigation has been released.

Following the call, Mock was eventually taken to Sedgwick County Jail in Kansas to be held whilst police investigations into the criminal case are carried out. She currently remains incarcerated in the jail and is now being held on a bond of $1million.
