Glum Prince Harry has hit back at critics who think he is grouchy and insists he loves his life.

Despite the views of many – including body language experts and royal commentators – the ginger Royal has insisted he is not a misery guts.

Harry, who quit as a working Royal to live in America, said: “It is only in certain elements of the Press where you see this talk about me being down or saying I am not smiling.

“This comes from people who think they know what I am thinking and how I am feeling. They are wrong.

“I think parts of the British Press want to believe that I am miserable, but I’m not.

“I am very happy with who I am and I like the life that I live.”

Harry admitted he has felt the strain of dealing with personal issues, including a rift with his family and taking legal action against newspaper publishers.

He said: “I have certainly had to deal with some very stressful events over the last four years.

“There has been the uncertainty and stress of the litigation and finding out certain things that have really, really hurt.

“I feel a lot of support from the British public.”

The Duke of Sussex lives in California with his wife Meghan and their two kids after walking away from his duties as a senior member of the royal family in 2020.

But he came back to the UK last week to visit his dad King Charles for the first time since February 2024 and said he wants to prioritise that relationship as the monarch continues to battle cancer.

Harry, who turned 41 on Monday, added: “The focus really has to be on my dad.”

He also denied his toxic autobiography sharing revelations about his family, which he titled Spare, was about airing his “dirty laundry in public”.

Harry said: “I know that (speaking out) annoys some people and it goes against the narrative.

“The book? It was a series of corrections of stories already out there. One point of view had been put out and it needed to be corrected.

“I don’t believe that I aired my dirty laundry in public. It was a difficult message, but I did it in the best way possible. My conscience is clear.

“It is not about revenge, it is about accountability.”
