Bodycam footage shows the most brazen drink drivers being arrested in Durham, England, as part of a police campaign to highlight the dangers of driving under the influence

A school bus driver was found to be more than twice the legal drink-drive limit while taking a coachload of children into a busy town centre. He is one of Britain’s most brazen drink-drivers shamed in a hard-hitting police video campaign.

Body-worn camera footage captured the tipsy school coach driver being arrested after concerned teachers raised the alarm. He was discovered to be more than double the legal limit whilst transporting children into Durham city centre.

In the video, a police officer tells him: “You’re over twice the legal limit with a bus load of kids. Howay man.” The driver responds: “I can’t believe it”, to which the cop replies: “Well I can.”

Another segment features a plastered van driver telling officers: “You can’t tell me what I can and can’t do.”

He then nods off in front of bewildered police.

One brazen motorist even informed cops he didn’t pull over because he “thought you were giving me a police escort”.

Another intoxicated man is filmed denying he drove home drunk whilst clearly seated behind the wheel with his hands gripping the steering wheel.

Durham Constabulary unveiled a compilation of the most appalling drink drivers of 2025 as part of their Christmas driving initiative Operation Limit.

One recording shows a drink driver being apprehended after colliding with a tree on the A19. Moments afterwards another intoxicated motorist crashes into the damaged vehicle, barely avoiding police officers.

Another segment features a pair who are so inebriated they trapped themselves inside their own vehicle.

Other motorists are captured erupting into fury as they are arrested for exceeding the limit. One bloke is sobbing on the pavement before yelling “f***ing hell!” and dashing over to thump a tree whilst police attempt to settle him down.

Another chap collapses in tears and pleads with officers: “I’m a good lad. I’m the best of the best from this town, I’ve got a career. I’ve got a good job, I’ve got a mortgage. I don’t cause nobody no harm.”

In separate footage, a man erupts into tears in the rear of a police vehicle as he implores officers “I just wanna go home!”.

Clips also revealed drink-drivers being challenged after failing roadside breath examinations. One bloke registered more than three times the legal threshold of 35mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath after being pulled over for having a missing tyre.

Another man recorded a shocking five times the legal threshold.

A constable informs him: “You have blown 177 which is astronomically well above the legal limit to drive.”

In further footage, a motorist undergoes a breath examination and declares to officers: “I’m a great believer that if you’re in the wrong, you’re in the wrong. Simple as that.”

Shortly after, the constable announces: “It’s just come back as a fail.”

The man boldly responds: “Well I want a blood test.”

Another thug even makes light of potentially killing people in a collision.

Whilst lying prone in handcuffs, he chuckles: “Well if they’re dead, they’re dead.”

The footage has already become a sensation with hundreds of thousands of views and shares across social media. A police spokesperson stated: “Excuses, apologies, and angry slurring of words follow, but there simply is no justification for driving under the influence.

“Some of the collisions we’ve included in this video resulted in serious injuries.”
