Strictly Come Dancing has issued an update on Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman’s future after the duo announced they would be leaving the BBC One show

Strictly Come Dancing has provided an update on Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman’s future following the pair’s heartbreaking departure announcement.

It was revealed on Thursday (23 October) that Tess, 56, who has fronted Strictly since its launch in 2004, and Claudia, 53, who has co-hosted alongside Tess since 2014, would be stepping down from the beloved BBC One programme.

In a statement released earlier on Thursday, the BBC announced: “After many magnificent years in the ballroom, Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman have confirmed they are saying goodbye to Strictly Come Dancing.

“Tess and Claudia have co-hosted Strictly Come Dancing together since 2014.”

Addressing the announcement on Strictly’s spin-off programme, It Takes Two, on Thursday evening, presenter Janette Manrara spoke about the devastating news, reports Wales Online.

Janette, 41, revealed: “But first, you may have already heard the news. Tess and Claudia announced this morning that they are leaving Strictly Come Dancing at the end of the series.

“Tess has presented the show since its very first episode alongside the legendary Sir Bruce while Claudia originally presented our show before moving over to host the results show alongside Tess in 2010.

“They’ve both presented the main show and results show together since 2014. Ladies, we are going to miss you both so much!”

Confirming what lies ahead for the duo before their departure, Janette assured viewers: “But luckily we still have them for the rest of, what promises to be, a brilliant series and the Christmas special!”

Tess and Claudia announced their departure from Strictly Come Dancing in a heartfelt joint statement: “We have loved working as a duo and hosting Strictly has been an absolute dream. We were always going to leave together and now feels like the right time.

“We will have the greatest rest of this amazing series and we just want to say an enormous thank you to the BBC and to every single person who works on the show.

“They’re the most brilliant team and we’ll miss them every day. We will cry when we say the last ‘keep dancing’ but we will continue to say it to each other. Just possibly in tracksuit bottoms at home while holding some pizza.”

The dynamic duo will bid farewell to Strictly Come Dancing at the conclusion of the current series, with their final appearance set for the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special, airing on Christmas Day on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.

Strictly Come Dancing continues on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
