Strictly Come Dancing star Ross King made a ‘tearful’ admission about his upcoming dance after his low score from the judges last week.
Strictly Come Dancing contestant Ross King was visibly emotional as he addressed his disappointing scores from the judging panel.
The American entertainment correspondent, familiar to viewers from his appearances on Lorraine, made his debut on the dance floor during Saturday evening’s opening show, tackling the cha cha cha with professional partner Jowita Przystał.
Ross launched his performance in dramatic style, gliding down a crimson slide before Jowita made her entrance in a glittering costume.
However, despite his best efforts to wow the panel, the judges weren’t impressed – Craig awarded him a 2, Motsi gave him a 3, Shirley handed out a 2, and Anton scored him a 3.
Their total of 10 marks represents the second-lowest tally in the programme’s history, reports Wales Online.
Ross and Jowita featured on Strictly spin-off It Takes Two on Wednesday (October 1) evening, where it became apparent the harsh scoring had knocked Ross’s self-belief, as he confessed: “I’m completely out of my comfort zone.”
During a heartfelt exchange with presenter Janette Manrara, Ross revealed: “I have never danced and I can’t dance. At one point I did go ‘maybe I need to put my hand up and go this is not for me’ because I didn’t think I would get through the routine from start to finish. So to start it and finish I was really happy.”
Reflecting on his debut performance, he quipped: “I think Jowita tried to kill me with the slide at the beginning. I nearly took out three cameramen.”
He went on: “I was also really disappointed with Craig because I thought we were giving him the perfect downhill Ross but it was downhill all the way after that.”
The celebrity became emotional as he revealed: “It’s completely out of my comfort zone but I’m so lucky to have this special lady by my side to get me through it and to keep building me up and my confidence.”
Addressing his professional dance partner, he expressed: “You’ve never once lost your temper with me, lost patience with me. I don’t think people realise the job the professionals do. What they have to deal with. You’re like a therapist and a trainer.”
Ahead of Saturday night’s performance, Ross grew tearful whilst revealing the heartfelt motivation behind his musical selection.
The celebrity will grace the dance floor performing the waltz to Sunshine on Leith by Proclaimers. Whilst viewing rehearsal footage today, Jowita commended her partner: “Ross is doing so well. I think ballroom is more close to his heart because Ross loves a heel lead so this time, it is allowed. He can do it and loves the song.”
Struggling to contain his emotions, Ross confessed: “I get tearful every time. Even now.”
Jowita interjected: “It’s beautiful because the song means a lot to him and we are dancing for Scotland this week so we are dedicating this dance to Scotland.”
Ross concluded: “I think what the judges said I took a lot from it and I paid attention to what they were saying.”
