Taylor Swift’s global fame is set to be explored in Channel 4’s new two-part documentary

Taylor Swift has found herself embroiled in multiple public rows since bursting onto the scene more than two decades ago.

The pop sensation’s meteoric rise and headline-grabbing clashes are set to come under the microscope in Channel 4’s fresh documentary, Taylor: The Star Who Changed The World.

Broadcasting on Tuesday (September 30) at 9.15pm, the two-part programme boasts chats with Taylor’s former staff members alongside her most dedicated supporters.

The official blurb reveals: “Taylor will dig deep across the musician’s 20-year career, a period that has seen her transcend the realm of pop star to become a cultural icon like no other.

“Through interviews with high-profile commentators, industry insiders and fans, the documentary examines the forces that have shaped her trajectory and the devoted community she has inspired,” reports the Mirror.

As devoted Swifties prepare to watch the documentary series, here’s a breakdown of Taylor’s most notorious quarrels.

Kanye West feud

Kanye West left Taylor reeling when he gatecrashed her 2009 MTV Video Music Awards acceptance speech.

At just 19 years old, Taylor had scooped the gong for Best Female video for her chart-topper You Belong With Me.

Whilst receiving her accolade, Kanye stormed the stage and suggested that Beyoncé’s Single Ladies music video was more deserving of recognition.

The rapper infamously declared: “Yo, Taylor, I’m really happy for you and I’mma let you finish, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time.”

Taylor later disclosed that Kanye had reached out to make amends, telling ABC News Radio: “Kanye did call me and he was very sincere in his apology, and I accepted that apology.”

Yet the duo found themselves embroiled in another public row in 2016, as depicted in the fresh docuseries.

Kanye dropped a track called Famous for his The Life Of Pablo album.

The song contained the contentious lyrics: “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex / Why? I made that b**** famous.”

Whilst the rapper did ring Taylor to give her a heads-up about the mention, the pop sensation later clarified that she hadn’t heard the tune prior to its release and was unaware he would brand her as “that b****.”

A recorded phone conversation by Kanye’s then-spouse Kim Kardashian proved that Taylor hadn’t given the green light to the scathing lyrics as Kanye had suggested.

Despite the pair having endured multiple public clashes, they haven’t engaged in any heated rows in recent times.

$1 legal battle

In 2017, Taylor was granted $1 (77p) by a jury after they determined that DJ David Mueller had inappropriately touched her during a meet-and-greet photo session.

The DJ had launched his own legal action against the pop star, alleging the 35 year old’s claims had cost him his $150,000 yearly role at KYGO radio in Colorado.

She responded with a counter-claim seeking merely $1 if he was found liable.

The vocalist described to the court how the DJ had slipped his hand beneath her skirt and onto her “bare ass cheek” during a June 2013 encounter.

The star claimed that he inappropriately touched her bottom while they posed for a photograph during a meet and greet session after her Denver concert in 2013.

Her spokesperson informed the court that the trial aimed to convey the clear message that “no means no”.

Scooter Braun battle

Taylor became embroiled in another high-profile row in 2019 when her previous record label chief Scott Borchetta flogged her back catalogue to Scooter Braun, after Scooter’s company acquired the label where Taylor inked her first deal.

This meant Taylor was stripped of any authority over her musical heritage.

The pop sensation subsequently embarked on re-recording her initial six albums, guaranteeing she maintained ownership of the tracks her devoted followers had come to cherish.

It required several years for the international megastar to reclaim the rights to her compositions.

Breaking the news in May, she revealed to supporters: “All of the music I’ve ever made … now belongs … to me.”

Taylor premieres on Channel 4 this Tuesday 30th September at 9.15pm
