The One Show presenter Alex Jones was overcome with emotion as she listened to her friend Sara Cox on the radio, with the BBC star admitting she was ‘broken’

The One Show’s Alex Jones admitted she was brought to tears by Sara Cox’s heartfelt update regarding her BBC Children in Need challenge.

The Radio 2 host is presently tackling an arduous 135-mile run spanning four counties – Northumberland, Durham, North Yorkshire and West Yorkshire – in a bid to generate money for the charity.

She became overwhelmed with emotion on Wednesday (November 12) upon learning that she had exceeded the one million pound fundraising target, confessing that she felt “broken”.

Later that evening on The One Show, Alex disclosed how profoundly moved she was after hearing Sara on the radio, according to Wales Online.

Whilst discussing the radio personality’s achievements with co-presenter Angellica Bell on the BBC show, Alex confessed: “We just need to talk about Sara for a minute.”, reports the Mirror.

“Did you hear her on Radio 2 this morning?” the presenter enquired. “I had to pull over because I was in floods of tears. She is amazing.”

She added: “If you’re watching Sara, good luck, we are so behind you.”

Earlier that day, Sara had chatted with her DJ mate Scott Mills on air about her progress with the demanding challenge, which involves completing the equivalent of five marathons over five days to raise funds.

Scott informed the presenter about the fundraising achievements, reducing Sara to tears when she discovered she had accumulated more than £1,002,869 thus far.

“Oh my God!” she gasped, appearing shocked to discover she had surpassed the million pound milestone. “That is amazing. Thank you. You’ve completely broken me. Everybody who has donated, thank you so much.

“I am so proud of you,” Scott expressed, his voice thick with emotion as he lauded his co-worker for her remarkable achievement.

“I can’t believe it,” Sara confessed, wiping away tears. “That is so generous. Thank you so much. Every fiver, every tenner… it all makes a massive difference.”
