This Morning fitness expert Alice Liveing has been diagnosed with retained products after postpartum bleeding just five weeks after welcoming her baby daughter

A This Morning personality has been rushed to hospital and given a life-threatening diagnosis mere weeks after welcoming a baby girl.

Sharing an image of her hospital bed surrounded by medical equipment on her Instagram account, the ITV presenter disclosed that just five weeks had passed since her daughter’s arrival when she realised something wasn’t quite right.

Speaking to her 675,000 followers about her serious medical condition, Alice Liveing explained that she had spotted “post birth” bleeding and wisely arranged a GP consultation.

Her Instagram message began: “Not the news I wanted today but wanted to share in case it’s helpful or makes anyone else get theirs checked. I had some unusual post birth bleeding over the last week or so, and saw my GP who referred me for a scan.”

She continued: “Turns out I have some ‘retained products’ and am now waiting for the plan of action to deal with this. “It’s these little things you often try and ‘write off’ as being normal post having a baby that it can be worth getting checked.”

Alice went on: “I’m sadly outside the 28 day window to receive triage care from the hospital hence needing to go down the GP route but I’m glad I did and will keep you posted with next steps for anyone else who might be experiencing similar.”

Despite adding a warning in her follow-up post acknowledging the heavy nature of the information, she proceeded to outline the specifics of abnormal postpartum bleeding, hoping to boost awareness amongst her audience. In another post, she revealed: “Mine was mainly the colour of my bleeding. It was a bright bright red with large clots (Sorry TMI) from around 25 days post birth.”

Earlier this month, Alice was sharing posts of joy after announcing the safe arrival of her daughter Jeannie Isabella Murphy, reports the Mirror.

On November 9, she excitedly wrote: “Creeping back online to announce the arrival of… Jeannie Isabella Murphy. She burst into the world in the most unexpected way, I can’t wait to share more on this because it’s a wild story.”

She continued: “But she’s here, she’s healthy, she’s happy and safely earthside and that’s all we could ask for, It’s been a whirlwind two weeks, and I’ve taken the most time offline since I started posting 10 years ago to soak up every single second of this bubble we’re in.”

Her celebrity friends were quick to flood the comments section with well wishes for the new family of three. Reality TV star Lucy Mecklenburgh commented: “Congratulations! She’s so perfect.”

Loose Women panel member Katie Piper expressed: “Huge congratulations.” Love Island’s Montana Brown chimed in with: “Congrats superwoman. She’s so beautiful.” Singer Pixie Lott also joined in, exclaiming: “Ahhhh congratulations guys so beautiful! ! ! ! !”
