US President Donald Trump reportedly sent the elite commandos who killed Osama Bin Laden on a secret mission to spy on North Korea – but the operation went horribly wrong

Donald Trump dispatched the elite commandos who eliminated Osama Bin Laden on a covert mission to conduct surveillance on North Korea, it has been alleged.

The US President allegedly authorised a scheme to install surveillance equipment during nuclear negotiations six years ago.

The botched plot to gain intelligence on Kim Jong-un went awry when the operation collapsed after the troops reportedly killed civilians, according to the New York Times.

The publication claims the SEALs spent months preparing, having been cautioned that any minor error could prove “catastrophic”.

During the mission’s preparation, they selected a remote spot, believing it was an unpopulated zone that would enable them to infiltrate completely unnoticed, reports the Mirror.

Officials had spent months identifying the perfect moment to strike in the tranquil region.

The operation’s objective was straightforward, the report claims, with eight SEALs approaching the target, fitting a surveillance device, and then disappearing back into the ocean without leaving any evidence.

Yet, as the team landed on shore, clad in black wetsuits, night-vision equipment, and carrying untraceable firearms and rounds, they allegedly realised something had gone amiss.

A North Korean vessel, which hadn’t been anticipated, appeared from the shadows.Torches blazed from its front, scanning the waters.

Voices could be heard from the craft, followed by the noise of a splash as one of the crew disturbed the surface. The SEALs reportedly made a split-second decision, fearing they had been spotted, and opened fire.

Within moments, all three individuals on the boat were dead. Believing their cover had been compromised, the SEALs are said to have swiftly retreated into the ocean.

According to NYT, the men killed were civilians and the listening device was never planted. Details of the botched mission were reported based on interviews with dozens of people.

“These missions often remain shielded by secrecy laws, leaving most Americans with no way to know about major actions that influence national security and may have an impact on their lives,” stated Patrick Healy, assistant managing editor at the publication.

“Officials said they were discussing classified details because the mission highlights a problem that plagues Special Operations. That problem is that these missions require extreme care and precision but are exceptionally vulnerable to failure. Some are big successes; others go wrong. There is often little public accountability.”

Neither the White House or the US Navy have publicly commented on the allegations, but Trump today claimed he knew nothing of the mission.
