A mysterious floodtide of sex toys is puzzling locals on a scenic island. The dildos arrived in the wake of Storm Amy on the sands of Millport in Scotland, bringing a rare buzz in the tourist destination’s sleepy off-season.
Two dog walkers spotted the sex toys on Newton beach and scrambled to carry off the saucy devices before kids might find them, reports the Sun. Where the dildos came from isn’t clear. But locals suspect they might have fallen off a ship in the nearby Firth of Clyde.
The sex toys started washing up on Friday (October 10) when Storm Amy was battering Scotland. But the contraptions kept on coming over the weekend.
Locals told the media that the ‘sex on the beach’ mystery has left the village buzzing with excitement.
Barmaid Lesley McDowell, 59 , who works at the Newton Bar, said: “It was a load of sex toys that washed up – the village has been buzzing ever since. “But seriously, luckily it happened when it was quiet and kids didn’t find them.
“We don’t know where they got dumped, but there’s none in the bar.” Lesley said: “Apparently a guy was coming up from the beach with an armful of dildos.
“It’s not the run of the mill kind of day in Millport.”
The strange arrival has sparked comparisons with the film Whisky Galore! “Maybe they should make a film here and call it Toys Galore,” a local said.
The classic movie, based on a true story, is about cases of whisky washing up on a Scottish island. Dog walker Issy Wright, 67, joked: “This isn’t the kind of thing that happens here. Usually we keep that kind of stuff private.
“Not that I know much about these things, but it was dildos that were washed up. I’m not sure what happened to them – though I did hear about 100 people descended onto the beach with big bags.”
Scotland has already had its fair share of shocking beach finds this year. Locals in Fife reported a ‘starfish apocalypse’ last month when their beaches were suddenly buried under thousands of the sea creatures.
