EXCLUSIVE: As the celebrities keep up their hunt for the Traitors sneaking around the iconic Scottish castle, Daily Star got to have a peek around the building where it all happens
Telly sensation The Traitors has a set to die for, as viewers know all too well about. The show, which is dominating the airwaves as the current celebrity series is airing, is filmed at a 19th century castle in the Scottish Highlands that’s a short drive from Inverness.
Your Daily Star Sunday got to have a snoop around to see what it’s really like — and we were very impressed indeed. It’s without doubt one of the most beautiful locations ever used for a reality series.
The castle boasts 100 acres of picturesque grounds where peacocks, deer, rabbits and hares roam. There are stunning views wherever you look.
When you go inside, it’s just as beautiful. There are countless rooms to explore – the bar, the breakfast room, the pantry and the kitchen are just some of them.
Best of all is the secret room that’s been shown on the series. To access it you have to find the hidden lever in the bookshelf, which is a lot of fun and very on brand for a show like The Traitors.
There’s no shortage of decent grub for players in the castle. In the morning there’s a sumptuous continental breakfast that’s become famous.
There’s plenty to choose from with fancy croissants, different types of toast, fresh fruit and even fairy cakes. It’s far better than the breakfast you get at most fancy hotels.
There’s also unlimited sweets in the pantry. Later in the day there are chefs on hand to rustle up lunch and dinner.
When it comes to booze, the bar is fully stocked. But players on the BBC show aren’t allowed to get too merry.
The bottles of wine are pretty small so producers can keep track of how much everyone is drinking so things don’t get out of hand. Not everything you see on the show is as it seems.
Almost every room has fake walls installed for filming, including the one with the iconic round table. It’s so wires and cameras can be hidden from players.
Many of the ornaments and books are also shipped in just for the show to make it look extra fancy. But one thing that’s 100% genuine is the beauty of the castle. I’d kill to spend more time there.
