The White Lotus is heading to France for its fourth season with creators eyeing luxury resorts from Paris to the Riviera — but the exact setting is still under wraps

The White Lotus is packing its bags once again and this time it looks like the hit HBO series is heading for France.

According to Deadline, creator Mike White and his team have their sights set on the country for the fourth instalment of the smash murder mystery drama. It follows previous backdrops of Hawaii, Italy and most recently Thailand.

While HBO is staying tight lipped, fans are already speculating which glamorous French hotspot could play host to the next round of darkly comic chaos.

The show famously partners with the Four Seasons chain, which has three luxurious properties in France — the iconic Grand Hôtel du Cap Ferrat on the Riviera, the alpine retreat at Megève, and the chic Hôtel George V in the heart of Paris.

The Cap Ferrat, with its Cannes connection and picture perfect sea views, is thought to be the front runner. But insiders stress that no final deal has been struck, and just like in Thailand, multiple resorts could be used to set the scene.

Whatever the choice, fans can expect another lavish playground for the privileged and more than a little trouble in paradise.

White himself has hinted at switching things up as he reflected on season three, by saying: “For the fourth season, I want to get a little bit out of the crashing waves of rocks vernacular but there’s always more room for more murders at the White Lotus hotels.”

That comment sparked chatter that a snowy or city based location could be on the cards. Megève, a popular winter ski resort, would certainly deliver a dramatic shift in scenery, but production timings might clash with peak snow season.

Paris, meanwhile, would move the show into an urban landscape for the first time by swapping sandy beaches for cobbled streets and romantic boulevards.

Back in February, Deadline reported that The White Lotus was “likely” heading back to Europe, and producers were originally due to scout locations in spring. That trip was delayed while White took a breather after season three’s intense schedule, but the plans are now firmly back on track.
