Charlie Kirk, a prominent conservative activist and fervent supporter of President Donald Trump, has been shot during an event at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah.
The incident occurred around 12:25pm local time near the campus food court in the university’s quad where Kirk was present.
A spokesperson for Kirk confirmed the incident to Fox News, stating, “Charlie Kirk has been shot at Utah Valley University. Condition unknown.” The news emerged as Charlie Kirk dead after rally shooting as Donald Trump makes statement.
Scott Trotter, Senior Director of Public Relations at UVU, also verified the details of the incident to the BBC. He said,
“A single shot rang out in the quad near the food court on the Utah Valley University Orem Campus as Mr. Charlie Kirk began speaking at his planned rally.
“We can confirm that Mr. Kirk was shot, but we don’t know his condition.”
Kirk, a family man, is married to real estate agent Erika Frantzve, and they have two children together, a daughter and a son, reports the Express US.
Following the shooting, Kirk was rushed to a nearby hospital, however, no further information regarding his condition has been released so far.
