A woman died after doctors found a gigantic liver twice the size of a human hand inside her. The mutant liver was discovered by doctors in Vladivostok, Russia, after a female patient was admitted into intensive care at Clinical Hospital No. 4 after being in a serious condition, according to a Telegram post.

The woman, who wasn’t named, was drinking so heavily she became unable to walk and was diagnosed with advanced alcoholic polyneuropathy. This is a disease affecting the nervous system and can be fatal.

During an examination, doctors discovered the woman had a gigantic liver. It turned out the woman’s condition also led to kidney failure, according to the Telegram account Baza Bazon.

Despite doctors’ best effort, the woman died.

It comes after a dad diagnosed with terminal cancer had two-thirds of his penis removed. Patrick Howard defied doctors’ grim 12-month prognosis after embarking on a “radical” treatment.

Patrick, a retiree living in Liverpool, Merseyside with his wife Laura, 59, was initially diagnosed with prostate cancer in October 2018 and underwent surgery to remove his prostate. when he noticed itching and redness on his penis in April 2020, a specialist later confirmed in October that it was an “aggressive” form of penile cancer, caused by human papillomavirus (HPV), and his diagnosis was terminal.

Patrick asked, “surely they’re not going to chop it off?”, but his consultant recommended a penectomy as the best course of action, resulting in approximately four inches – two-thirds of his penis – being surgically removed.

Despite this, lumps continued to appear, leading him to undergo radiotherapy and two rounds of chemotherapy, the latter of which was described as “brutal”. Yet, Patrick has defied medical expectations, outliving his initial 12-month prognosis.

On International Penile Cancer Awareness Day, which is September 20, Patrick is nearing two years since his last treatment and is astounded by his progress.

Patrick said: “I had something like a 7% chance of survival, and I remember thinking, ‘someone’s got to get the winning ticket’

“Now doctors have said I am no longer in the less than 12 months to live category. I’m perilously close to two years without treatment now, which is extraordinary, and I now have scans every six months. You either go for it, or you succumb to it.”

Penile cancer is exceptionally uncommon and predominantly strikes men over 50 – with approximately half of all cases linked to specific strains of HPV, according to the NHS. Patrick revealed he was initially diagnosed with prostate cancer “by accident” in October 2018 following routine examinations and blood work.
